Vykintas Baltakas (*1972) studied conducting with Peter Eötvös and later with Andreas Weiss, as well as composition with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe, also participating in master classes at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris, in Darmstadt and at IRCAM in Paris.
He is in demand as a composer and conductor everywhere in Europe; his works have been performed by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, the WRD Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra.
He has received numerous international music awards and prizes at composition and conducting competitions.
