Nina Šenk (*1982) originally studied composition with Pavel Mihelčič at the Music Academy in Ljubljana. From 2005 and 2007 she completed a postgraduate course with Lothar Voigtländer at the Music Academy Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden, and from 2007 to 2008 with Matthias Pintscher at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Munich. Her Violin Concerto No. 1 was premiered at the Young Euro Classic Festival in 2004 and won the first prize. At the Weimarer Frühlingstage 2008, her piece Movimento fluido won the chamber music competition. During the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, she was composer in residence at the State Theatre Cottbus. For this stage, she wrote her Violin Concerto No. 2 and the orchestral work Echo II und Schnitt for saxophone and ensemble. The piece … glitzert, flimmert, vergeht for soprano and large ensemble was written for the New Music network European Instrumental Laboratory; it was performed by the ensembles Slowind, Aleph and Altera veritas in Slovenia, France and Latvia.

Nina Šenk lives in Germany and Slovenia as a freelance composer.
